Alex moved to Malta in 2015 and never got round to leaving. In 2020 he started filming the place — not the brochure version, the ordinary one. What a flat in Gzira actually costs. How long the residency queue really is. Which beach is unbearable in August, and which one is still worth the drive.
661 videos later, 148K people watch. A lot of them are weighing up the same move he made, and they ask the same practical things underneath every video: where to live, what it costs once the deposit is paid, whether the paperwork is as bad as it looks.
Answering those became the second half of the job. Finding somewhere to live and reading the contract before it is signed. Working out which residency route a passport actually allows. Introductions to the accountants and notaries who sign things off, and an honest read on who is hiring. He works in English and Macedonian, and he still lives five minutes from the water.
